What we first noticed in this formula is the Greens, Veggie, and Fruit Blend, which contains a long list of powdered fruits, vegetables, and grasses. At first, we thought it was a great blend, but we soon found out that only a few of these ingredients had real value.

Ingredient Analysis — Digestive Health Blend
Next up is the Digestive Health Blend, designed to support gut health with fiber, enzymes, and probiotics. We saw that some ingredients in this blend work well, while others are unlikely to have an effect.
Organic flaxseed is a well-regarded dietary supplement and source of dietary fiber, known for its potential to enhance digestive health and alleviate constipation. A randomized controlled trial involving patients with type 2 diabetes and constipation demonstrated that consuming flaxseed-based cookies over 12 weeks significantly improved constipation symptoms, including stool frequency and consistency, compared to a placebo group.
Bacillus Coagulans is a spore-forming probiotic that’s been shown to survive stomach acid and reach the gut. According to clinical research, the Bacillus Coagulans strain may result in a significant reduction in symptoms such as abdominal discomfort and bloating.
The rest of the blend: Apple Fiber, Chia Seed, and various digestive enzymes like Amylase, Lipase, and Protease, falls short. Digestive enzymes can be helpful for people with specific intolerances, but they need to be used in the right dose and context. We found no evidence that the doses here are effective, and the brand doesn’t provide any detailed explanation about how these enzymes are meant to work together.
We only approve of flaxseed and Bacillus coagulans in this blend for helping with digestion and occasional bloating.
Ingredient Analysis — Fermented Botanical and Mushroom Blend
The last part we looked at is the Fermented Botanical and Mushroom Blend. This part of the formula includes a mix of mushrooms and herbs, many of which are traditionally used in stress and immune support. But as usual, dosing and extract strength make all the difference.
Organic Ashwagandha is one of the best-studied adaptogens. A clinical trial conducted on 64 people with chronic stress levels showed that those who took ashwagandha extract twice a day for 60 days experienced significantly reduced stress and lower cortisol levels, with no serious side effects.

We Tried Ancient Nutrition Super Greens

We tried Ancient Nutrition Super Greens after seeing it recommended as a way to easily get more greens. The convenience was what pulled us in at first. Just one scoop mixed into water or a smoothie. No prep. No mess. For anyone who doesn’t want to deal with juicing or chopping vegetables, this definitely saves time.
The mixability was okay. It blended fine in a shaker bottle, but not perfectly. There were some small clumps unless we used a blender. As for taste, we tried the Mint flavor. It was tolerable, but definitely had a grassy flavor with a sharp herbal finish. Not horrible, but not something we looked forward to drinking either.
We didn’t notice any big changes in appetite or energy. There was no crash or jittery feeling, which is good, but also no noticeable boost.
