California Prop 65
California Proposition 65 Notice
At Flawless Bloom LLC, we believe transparency is an essential part of earning your trust. If you are shopping from California, you may notice a Proposition 65 warning on certain product pages, product labels, or during checkout.
California law requires this notice for products that may expose consumers to certain listed chemicals, including those that may occur naturally in trace amounts. The presence of this warning does not necessarily mean that a product is unsafe. Instead, it is intended to provide California consumers with information about potential chemical exposures in accordance with state law.
WARNING: Some products in your order may expose you to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
What Is California Proposition 65?
California Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law that requires businesses to provide warnings when products may expose consumers to any of the chemicals listed by the State of California.
The Proposition 65 list includes more than 900 naturally occurring and synthetic substances. The law is intended to help California consumers make informed decisions about potential chemical exposures. It is a disclosure law and does not prohibit the sale of products that contain listed substances.
Does a Proposition 65 Warning Mean a Product Is Unsafe?
Not necessarily.
A Proposition 65 warning does not mean that a product is unsafe or that it fails to meet applicable federal safety standards. California has established notification thresholds that, in some cases, may be lower than exposure levels or guidance used by federal agencies and international health organizations, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
As a result, many foods, beverages, spices, dietary supplements, and other everyday consumer products sold in California display Proposition 65 warnings. Flawless Bloom LLC provides this notice whenever required under California law.
Why Can Natural Supplements Contain Trace Levels of Heavy Metals?
Many dietary supplements are made from herbs, botanicals, roots, fruits, vegetables, and other naturally sourced ingredients.
Plants naturally absorb minerals and trace elements from the soil and water in which they grow. Because these elements occur naturally in the environment, very small amounts of substances such as lead may be present in botanical ingredients used in dietary supplements.
These trace levels are not intentionally added during manufacturing but may naturally occur in agricultural raw materials.
